May 22, 2018 Weight Loss

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered what happened to the old you? The one that was younger, fitter, and thirty pounds lighter?

Sometimes it seems like poor habits or long work hours catch up with us overnight. You get caught up in your career and your life only to one day wake up and realize you no longer recognize the reflection in your mirror. Somewhere in between the sedentary desk job, the dinner dates, and those countless hours of lost sleep, you piled on pounds you never expected to gain.

Thankfully, there is a safe, easy way to burn fat without laboring for months at the gym or going under the knife. If traditional weight loss solutions aren’t for you, it may be time to consider Zerona.

What is Zerona?

Zerona is a revolutionary non-invasive laser therapy designed to eliminate unnecessary body fat. The end result is a more sculpted figure without the dangerous side effects or difficult recovery of surgical procedures like liposuction.

How Does Zerona Laser Therapy Work?

Zerona laser therapy uses cold lasers set upon a low level in order to target and eliminate fat cells from the body. This gentler approach avoids unsightly scarring or swelling that are common side effects of harsher laser treatments.

Because it is non-invasive, there is no need for inpatient care. It’s cheaper than traditional lipo procedures while eliminating the need for recovery after treatment.

Just how cheap is this procedure? Consider this: most liposuction surgeries cost around $4,000. In contrast, Zerona is only a fraction of the cost which combined with its efficiency and safety make it a preferred option for most patients seeking a quick and effective weight loss solution and alternative to liposuction.

Zerona is broken down into multiple out-patient treatment sessions spread out across the span of several weeks depending on what your specialists prescribes for you.

How to Choose the Right Chiropractor for Your Zerona Laser Therapy

Like any procedure, it’s important to do your research before selecting the right chiropractor for your procedure. Then set up a consultation with the provider you prefer. Ask to see their previous work. He or she should be able to showcase before and after photos of patients who have received Zerona in order to demonstrate the type of results you can expect.

Make sure you discuss all of your question and concerns with the provider before opting into a laser fat removal treatment. It’s important that you feel comfortable with the procedure before receiving it, but a chiropractor can only put you at ease if you communicate clearly with him or her.

Need help losing weight before the holidays? The busy hectic holidays are approaching fast. You might think you don’t have time to lose that weight. But you do! It won’t even require a strenuous exercise regiment.

The traditional routes of diet and exercise are not effective enough for most people. Add the stress of the holidays, and they’re nearly impossible.

Read on to see how you can lose weight with a program that won’t require you to drastically change your life.

Forget the Diet and Exercise Programs

If you’ve tried to lose weight in the past, you may have had the “plateau” experience. You change your diet and start exercising, only to see your weight just plateau. What happened? Your body became accustomed to your weight loss plan and began to make its own adjustments.

Other factors can derail your efforts, too. If you’re suffering from chronic back or knee pain, getting started with an exercise program can be difficult (if not impossible). Yet, you also know that movement with pain is important and that losing weight could help to ease that pain. It’s a Catch-22, but don’t give up hope. With newer and more effective technology, you can lose weight before the holidays!

Introducing Chirothin and Zerona Laser Therapy

Zerona is a new, non-invasive body contouring procedure. It targets excess fat without the negative side effects associated with some surgical methods. This technology was once used to help assist in liposuction procedures. Researchers found that the cold laser treatment also helped patients to emulsify fat from the:

  • Waist
  • Thighs
  • Hips
  • Arms
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Bra area
  • Knees
  • Ankles

This technology, along with our fat-burning weight loss program, has enabled some patients to lose up to 40 pounds in as little as 6 weeks! Others have reported losing 25 inches in as little as 6 weeks.

How Does Zerona Work?

It’s simple. You lie down in a comfortable position in a relaxed environment while the cold laser does all the work. Since Zerona uses cold laser technology, you’ll feel nothing during the procedure. The only thing you’ll feel is lighter as you exit the treatment area.

The Zerona low-level laser is applied to the targeted areas of the body. This is generally for 20 minutes on the front or anterior side. The same treatment is then applied to the back or posterior side.

Is Zerona Laser Therapy Safe?

Yes. In fact, it’s the only body contouring device of its kind that has been approved safe by the FDA.

Best of all, it’s 100% effective!

You can expect to lose inches from your waist, hips, and thighs in the first two weeks. As an added bonus, losing this weight could be the first step in easing chronic back or knee pain.

You CAN Lose Weight Before the Holidays

Forget the fad diets. You’ll have more success with the Zerona Laser Treatment at the Davis Clinic of Chiropractic in The Villages® and you won’t have to disrupt your life to get results. Plus, the reduction in pain from losing weight will give you a renewed sense of living!

August 14, 2017 Back PainWeight Loss

There are several myths about back pain floating around, but here’s something that isn’t a myth: Weight gain and back pain can go hand in hand.

If you think about it, the correlation between the two isn’t necessarily surprising. Every pound you lug around is a pound that your skeletal system has to support. That system can collapse if the pressure becomes too much to bear.

Not literally, but you get the point, right? Bad posture. Back pain. The works.

So what is the exact relationship between back pain and weight gain? We’ve got the scoop.

Weight Gain and Your Upper Back

As we indicated above, the spine bears the burden of the weight you carry. When you’re carrying too much weight, your upper spine won’t straighten out the same way it did before you packed on the extra pounds.

So what does this look like?

weight gain and back pain

To put things simply, the curvature of your spine might become abnormal. You might be tempted to lean your head forward to allow your spine to compensate for the extra weight you’ve gained, which could give you a sort of hunched appearance.

That new curvature worsens over time, and, sadly, your back pain worsens with it.

Weight Gain and Your Lower Back

Weight gain also has an effect on your lower back, though the mechanics are a bit different than the ones mentioned above. Belly fat (not just general weight gain) is the primary culprit in this case.

Understand that your belly is the core of your body. A strong core can do the body wonders while a weak, heavy one can do harm.

Your belly is above your pelvis, so whenever you gain weight in that area, your pelvis is going to bear that load. Once that load becomes too heavy to handle, your body has to find some way to carry it. Unfortunately, the solution is usually to push the hips forward.

But how does this affect your lower back?

Well, when your hips just forward, your lower back must do the same. This means that the alignment of your spine becomes a bit wonky as time progresses.

And guess what? That misalignment eventually leads to lower back pain.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Few people, if any, want to live with back pain for the rest of their lives. In order to avoid doing so, they have to lead active, healthy lifestyles.

Exercise is a great tool for those who wish to prevent back pain. Not only that, but it’s great for people who already have back pain as well.

Diet is even more important than exercise. It can help people keep extra weight at bay, which is extremely important since we’ve already established that weight gain and back pain have a strong correlation.

Fighting Weight Gain and Back Pain

As you can see, fighting weight gain can be the same thing as fighting back pain. Of course, that’s easier said than done. No one is so perfect that weight gain is outside of the realm of possibility.

That said, if you’re already struggling with your weight and/or chronic back pain, contact us to find out more about our non-surgical treatments. We deal with everything from back pain and knee pain to weight loss and neuropathy, and we understand that surgery isn’t for everyone.

obesity and back pain

How Weight Loss Can Help Reduce Back Pain

By now, you’ve probably heard all about the negative effects of being overweight – risk of heart disease, Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, and trouble breathing, to name a few. But, now there is one more side effect to add to the list – back pain.

Body Fat’s Effect on Joints

The American Obesity Association recently found that musculoskeletal pain (such as back pain) is 20% more likely to occur in those who are classified as obese.

Your body puts up with a lot on any given day. Each extra pound adds to the stress on your spine, which puts additional pressure on the soft tissue around your vertebrae. And, being overweight can shift your body’s center of gravity forward, which puts excess strain on your back muscles.

Along with the additional stress that goes along with weight gain, excess fat can also cause your spine to become unnaturally curved as it pulls your pelvis forward, which causes forward pressure on your spine.

Body Fat’s Effect on Your Body’s Natural Chemicals

Not only does belly fat put additional strain on your spine, it also causes excess release of inflammatory chemicals in your body. One of these chemicals is known as cortisol – a stress-induced chemical that promotes the storage of fat and increases the number of fat cells. Each of these fat cells releases inflammatory chemicals which weaken discs in the spine.

Not only do inflammatory chemicals slowly break down your spine, they also increase the risk of Metabolic Syndrome – a common precursor to heart disease and diabetes.

How to Reduce Back Pain Caused by Excess Weight

If you suffer from back pain, there’s a very real chance that it could be exacerbated by excess weight. If this is the case, then the best way to ease back pain is to start losing weight. But don’t take our word for it – Chiropractor, Dr. Jason Davis of the Davis Clinic of Chiropractic in The Villages® community says:

“Staying within ten pounds of your recommended weight can do wonders for your spine. Some back pain may be avoidable –simply by maintaining a healthy weight.”

How do you maintain a healthy weight, you ask? The answer is much simpler than most would like – eat less and move more. But, it’s not just eating less, it’s eating less of the wrong foods and eating more of the right foods. Including anti-inflammatory foods to help fight pain. Unfortunately, there’s no miracle pill or overnight cure.

Maintaining a healthy weight may be hard, but you do not have to do it alone!
